Brain fitness and the eldery - Wi on NBC news
NBC Nightly News had an interesting piece on the increasing use of video games by the elderly to counteract the effects of aging on health an cognition. The Nintendo Wi bowling game was featured. Very interesting.
If people were really serious about brain fitness they would checkout Posit Science's Brain Fitness Program. Its the only scientifically validated program on the market. The rest are all just junk science.
I don't work for Posit, but I wish I did. The things I have seen it do for my parents makes me want to work for them. As an a mechanical engineer I'm not sure they would have much use for me.
As far as scientifically validated goes, I see so many products flooding the market these days jumping on the "brain fitness" band wagon that are not scientifically validated. Programs that are published and peer reviewed by the scientific community is what I refer to as scientifically validated. I have yet to find another product that can say that. So to me all these other products are like infomercials.

Matt: I am not sure who you are (maybe working in Posit? I hope not, for the sake of that good company) but you display certain lack of knowledge...
Why don't you state your case more clearly, and we can discuss what is "scientifically validated".
In the meantime, let's enjoy Wii and new, diverse, and challenging mentally stimulating activities.
